Beginning in 1946, and only for a year or two, this firm made a distinctive 14" bandsaw that does not resemble those from any other maker.

From a 1946 edition of Modern Plastics:
All-purpose band saw — The Livingston Mfg. Co., South Gate, Calif., has announced a new heavy duty band saw, Model 140, which can be used for metals as well as plastics and wood. The vertical cutting clearance is 10 in. in depth while the horizontal measure is 13¾ inches. Installation of the blade at the back of the saw unit assures operator protection of a permanent frontal guard at all times. Double shielded ball-bearing guides, mounted on eccentrics, are adjustable to any size or type of blade up to and a ¾" size. Tilt table is of cast iron and measures 17" long by 20" wide. Since the split is directly back of the blade, the main portion of the table is left free for a working surface. The saw is set up for use on plastics or wood, and can also be used for metal cutting when slowed to proper speed. The entire machine, including cast iron base for motor of either ½ or ¾ hp, measures 75" high, and weighs approximately 300 lb. It is also available without the 24" base.
From an edition of Western Metalworking that seems to be from late 1946 or early '47: "Livingston Manufacturing Co., South Gate, Calif. Modern Heavy duty band saw Model 140. Application: Although made for wood and plastics, it is now being successfully..."
From a 1947 edition of Plastics: "Band. Saw. Livingston Mfg. Co. South Gate, Calif. A new type of band saw of unusual design and with a number of safety features has been announced by the Livingston Co.; it is to be known as Model 140-Heavy duty. Frame and guard of this saw are cast... The entire machine, including cast iron base for motor of either ?? or ?? Hp. measures 75" high, and weighs ..." From the Livingston Model 140 flyer that was uploaded by Bob Holcombe we know that the bandsaw weighed 300 lb with base.
