This company was founded in 1893 by George Wilberforce Soulé. It lasted for over 100 years, closing its doors in 2002. Among its products was a line of lumber edgers. When Soulé closed its doors, their Miner Edger Works was purchased by Meadows Mills, Inc., which continues to manufacture and sell the Miner Edger line.

Following the 2002 shutdown, the Works were purchased, virtually intact by Jim McRae, who formed the non-profit Mississippi Industrial Heritage Museum, Inc.. The Soulé site is now the home of the Mississippi Industrial Heritage Museum.
