This small woodworking machinery maker was active in 1883, and probably for some time before and after.
There was also a company called Dietz Will Co. out of Cincinnati that may have been a successor firm.
Information Sources
- The August 1883 issue of Manufacturer & Builder carried this notice: "J. Dietz & Co., of Cincinnati, O., are having quite a run on their new pony planer. They have many orders ahead, but are well equipped with modern machinery and tools of the best quality, and are prepared to fill all orders on short notice. They are preparing patterns for a scroll saw, also a band saw, of new and improved design."
- An 1886 patent was witnessed by a Jacob Dietz of Sandusky, OH. The patent was assigned to lathe maker Klotz & Kramer Machine Co. We cannot confirm any connection between this Jacob Dietz and the titular Dietz of J. Dietz & Co.
