By 1919 William P. Casey and others had established the Router Manufacturing Co. of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and were making a small router adapted for removing putty from window glazing. They were soon making a range of handheld electric routers and circular saws. They also made a dado and rabbeting machine consisting of a flat base mounted to the side of a router with integral gearbox.
In 1927 or '28 the company name changed to the Casey Manufacturing Co., with William P. Casey still as president. The company seems to have got into some difficulty during the early 1930s but was able to continue doing business. Casey died in 1947 and was succeeded as company president by E. G. Race, who had been with the company nearly from the beginning. Race would remain president until his death in 1966 at age 81.
The company continued into the 1980s and then in 1986 reorganized as Casey Saw, Inc. We have seen a 2-inch vertical belt grinder made by this firm, which survived under that name until about 2000.
