Information Sources

  • From ads in 1898 and 1920 issues of "The Wood-Worker". The 1898 ad features Bryant's patent band crosscut saw. It looks something like the head of a Woodmizer band sawmill, but with blade guides that twist the blade 90 degrees for the part of its length that cuts the stock. The frame pivots so that it moves the blade in a plane in line with the wheels.
  • Listed as a machinery maker in the 1874 work, Wiley's American iron trade manual of the leading iron industries of the United States.
  • The Story of Grand Rapids, by Z. Z. Lydens, 1966, provided the information on the purchase of the company's assets by Oliver Machinery Co.
