Elk River Machine Company was founded in 1952 and has developed and manufactured machines and tools to improve production methods and meet special problems in a range of fabricating industries, including press brakes and shears. The first COMBO press brake and shear was developed in 1966.

The distinctive COMBO character and basic engineering principle are protected under U.S. Patent No. 3616525
