Stoody Co. was established in the mid-1920s by Winston F. Stoody and H. C. Stoody. This firm primarily made welding rod and alloy steels, but in their early years they manufactured a clever patent quick-release lathe tool holder.

The same March 1926 issue has an illustrated writeup on this company's portable grinding outfit, a two-wheeled cart carrying a three-phase 1 HP motor driving a flexible shaft with grinding wheel on the end, for doing the sorts of jobs that nowadays would be done using an angle grinder.
