It is uncertain whether this dovetailing-machine inventor manufactured his own product; it was exhibited by one S. P. Putnam of New York City. Despite the mismatch in location, this may have been Salmon P. Putnam of Fitchburg, MA, in which case the machine could have been produced by Putnam Machine Co. But the Putnam Machine Co. was never mentioned in any of the articles, and in any case no mention of S. P. Putnam appears after 1855).
