Harris Engineering & Mfg. Co. was founded in 1964 by Gerald Harris in his garage in Livermore, California manufacturing metal cutting band saws. At some point, the name of the company was shortened to simply HEM Inc. or sometimes HE&M Inc.. In 1976, the company relocated to Pryor, OK.
