The Raja Mfg. Corp began in 1963 to manufacture the "Rathbone Precision Chucker". The company soon reorganized as the Rathbone Manufacturing Co., Inc. Under both these names they manufactured chucking machines, which are bedless lathes that hold the workpiece in a chuck or collet. Rathbone was acquired by Motch & Merryweather Machinery Co. in 1969.
