Up-To-Date Machine Works was founded in 1917 by Eugene Maurey, Sr. Their product line included car parts and V-belt pulleys, plus bandsaws and scrollsaws. In 1933 the name changed to Maurey Manufacturing Corp. The company remains in business today, making pulleys.

Up-To-Date Machine Works seems to be the same as Waco Tool Works, offering identical machines at about the same time out of the same address.

Information Sources

  • We first learned of this maker from a 10" C-frame bandsaw.
  • According to their website:
Located in Chicago, IL., Maurey Manufacturing Corporation was founded in 1917 as the Up-To-Date Machine Works by Eugene Maurey, SR. Early products, which included wheel locks for model-T Fords and woodworking equipment, soon evolved into the manufacture of steel V-Pulleys for industry. The company was incorporated under its present name of Maurey Manufacturing Corporation in 1933.
  • Eugene Maurey has a couple of non-woodworking patents: 1935 patent no. 2,006,145 for a multi-groove pulley, and 1952 patent no. 2,618,495 for a center pulley bushing. No woodworking-related patents have surfaced.
  • Catalog seen on eBay in February 2012: "Maurey / The Quality Tool / For Home and Professional Use / Manufactured by Up-To-Date Machine Works / 2915 S.
