This partnership of Levi A. Dole and Albert R. Silver dates from 1859 when Allen S. Felch left the partnership of Dole, Silver & Felch. Dole & Silver was succeeded by Dole, Silver & Deming in 1866. See the latter entry for a timeline of the various related Salem-based firms that manufactured woodworking and wheelwrighting machines.
