In the 1930s Horace Denford established Denford Small Tools to make tool holders plus inspection and metrology tools. During World War II the business reorganized as Denfords Engineering Co. At war's end a new business was started, Denford Machine Tools, which began manufacturing Box-Ford benchtop lathes in two different models.
