In 1926 the Monarch Electric Saw Co. was manufacturing the "Monarch Electric Hand Saw", a circular crosscut saw on the end of a horizontal arm mounted behind the work table and extending above it; the arm pivoted down to make the cut. The motor was located at the far end of the arm from the blade.
