From an 1890 patent for a spiral lathe, and a 1902 patent for a planing machine for making end-grain chopping blocks.

Do not confuse this company with F. Zimmermann GmbH, of Denkendorf, Germany. That company imported their 2-inch strip sander to the U.S., and they are still in existence; their web site is http://www.f-zimmermann.com/.
