Established in 1848, this firm manufactured Stolz gas engines. In 1903,the company merged with W. C. Oastler to form the American Road Roller Co.

"The Conger Mfg. Co., Groton, N. Y., makers of the Stolz gasoline engines, write us that their business has increased to such proportions that they have recently placed a large order for additional machinery, including lathes, milling machines, shapers, drills, boring mills, etc., which machinery is now being installed in their plant, so that in ten days from now they will be able to double their output. They are receiving many orders for their Stolz Motors, which are being used in automobiles and launches all over the country. The Stolz Motors certainly make things go." (Quote from 1903.)
