Founded in 1977 by Tim Eichfeld, Horace Disston and Tom Fitzgerald, the Disstim Corp. their first products was a hold-down accessory for a drill press.

From that beginning, Disstim Corp. manufactured consumer products including a stepladder, a combination drill and countersink for wood screws, a combination screwdriver and nutdriver, and a pegboard hook system for tool sheds and kitchens. By the 1990s the company had switched its focus to swimming pools.

    Seahorse Discount Pools may be a relatively new name to the area, but its parent company, Disstim Corporation, founded by Tim Eichfeld, was established in 1977. Disstim Corporation is a manufacturing company having earned many patents over the years. Among the most popular patented product is the STEPMAX folding, two-position, industrial rates, type 1A, fiberglass step ladder, which is made and sold from the Deptford location. As a prolific entrepreneur, Tim Eichfeld and partners Horace Disston and Tom Fitzgerald have been in business in the same location selling many products, including the STEPMAX, since 1981 before entering the pool business in 1992.
