In 1860 the Penn Steam Engine & Boiler Works, at the corner of Beach and Palmer streets in Philadelphia, was operated by Reaney, Neafie & Co., which was a partnership consisting of Thomas Reaney, Jacob G. Neafie and John P. Levy. They manufactured marine and stationary steam engines of both high-pressure and low-pressure designs.
By 1861 the Works were being operated by Neafie & Levy, a partnership of Jacob G. Neafie and John P. Levy.
