Likely beginning about 1880, Carl Hinz manufactured his patent blind wiring machine—a device for attaching staples to the ends of shutter slats. By 1882 another invention of his, a patent mortising chisel, was being sold by Rowley & Hermance Co., and by 1890 that same firm was selling Hinz's blind wiring machine. It is possible that Rowley & Hermance was manufacturing Hinz's invention, but our best guess is that Hinz was the manufacturer.
