We learned of this company from an eBay listing for an unused billhead, "Thompson Vise Co., Manufacturers of Thompson's Patent Wood and Iron Treadle Vises," predated for the 1890s. The vises were invented by William Thompson and William A. Thompson. One vise was wood with iron and steel fittings, and the other was cast iron and steel. Both were treadle-operated.
