In late 1928 or early 1929, American Chain Co. and its subsidiary Manley Manufacturing Co. purchased the vise patents and stocks of Lowville Machine & Vise Co. The Lowville firm was a reorganization of Fulton Machine & Vise Co. We have seen photos of several examples with different markings. One reads "MFG BY AMERICAN CHAIN CO INC" and another says "ACCO BRIDGEPORT CONN USA." ACCO and Acco were brand names of American Chain Co. By March 1936, Acco vises were sold by American Chain's Manley Manufacturing Division. American Chain changed its name Jan. 1937 to American Chain & Cable Co., Inc.
