The Rivett-Dock Co. was a partnership of Edward Rivett and Herman Dock. Rivett headed the Faneuil Watch Tool Co., which would become the Rivett Lathe Manufacturing Co., and in fact Rivett-Dock and the Fanueil Watch Tool Co. shared premises. While living in Philadelphia in the early 1890s, Herman Dock developed a lathe attachment for cutting very accurate threads, including long and accurate threads as need when making lathe leadscrews. His attachment used a series of disk-shaped cutters to progressively cut the thread profile. That lathe attachment became the mainstay product for Rivett-Dock, who also made a cutter grinding machine.

Rivett-Dock was in business by about 1900 and lasted until about 1908 when the business was apparently absorbed into the Rivett Lathe Mfg Co. Subsequently, Herman Dock patented and manufactured gas engines.
