Incorporated Aug. 17, 1921 by prolific inventor John R. Long and his wife Kittie M. Long, the company manufactured the Pinch Bug vise patented by Mr. Long. He also designed the well-known Versa-Vise, manufactured by The Will-Burt Co. and Jon-Mar Gear & Machine Co. An example of the Akron vise appeared on a tool Facebook group in May, 2021. As purchased, this example has an extended-jaw coachmaker vise and a machinist vise which attach to the same base. We are not aware of any company advertising, but it appears that the vises were sold in three versions, coachmaker, machinist, and combination.
