Improved machine for manufacture of tinware
|
Samuel J. Olmsted |
Binghamton, NY |
This machine was seen in an 1874 ad from W. L. Headley and also in an 1891 ad from Chicago dealer Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co.. In 1874 this patent was granted an extension; that extension was accompanied by a disclaimer of Claims 1 and 2, leaving only Claim 3 in force. "The rollers R R' R'', as combined with the setting-down roller Q, and the circular die H, constructed and operated as described, whereby I am enabled to set down, double seam, and dish or deflect the bottom of the ware at one operation and without removing the ware from the die, as set forth." Patent 32,799, granted to Stephen Sweeney and Stephen Parks of Rome, NY, provides improved dies for this type of machine. |
