Canton Tool Manufacturing Co. was in business by 1953. They made precision drilling machines that were considerably less expensive than jig borers but that were claimed to achieve similar tolerances. The drill spindle remains fixed in X-Y position and the work is precisely positioned under the spindle with the use of custom fixtures.
