George Arrowsmith, a native of Monroe County, located in Lockport in 1857 and for some time was employed as a wheelwright. Since 1872, his time and energies have been devoted to the invention and introduction of a turbine water-wheel, which was patented in 1874 and which he is now manufacturing.” (Quote from 1878.)
