This maker of sawmills and planers was active in the 1870s and 1880s, and possibly for longer. In 1888 Flint was bought out by Franklin S. Lovell.
Information Sources
- A correspondent reports this maker of sawmills, planers, etc. They advertised in trade papers, and several of their sawmills have been observed in the wild.
- Charles M. Flint was granted an 1870 patent for an improved sawmill carriage. At that time he was living in Hancock, NH.
- Exhibited at the 1876 Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia.
- 1883 directory ad for "Flint's patent saw mills and saw mill dogs, and wood-working machinery; rear 5 Main Street". The address means that he probably rented space from Sylvanus Sawyer. They also advertised as "general millwrights and mechanical engineers, contracts taken for fitting-up mills complete...."
