Valve seat reamer
|
William H. Evans |
Chicago, IL |
Evans Flexible Reamer Corp. was acquired in 1943 by Lempco Products, Inc., and renamed to Evans Reamer & Machine Co. This reamer is an anti-chatter design made from a metal stamping, and in addition it provides two types of cutting teeth, one to break through the hard carbon scale on the valve seat, and the second to ream the metallic valve seat itself. The metal-cutting teeth stand slightly forward of the carbon-cutting teeth but are more flexible and have more cutting surface so that when encounter the hard carbon layer, they flex rather than bite in, which exposes the second set of teeth. |

Expansion reamer
|
William H. Evans |
Chicago, IL |
Evans Flexible Reamer Corp. was acquired in 1943 by Lempco Products, Inc., and renamed to Evans Reamer & Machine Co. This expansion reamer provides cutting edges that maintain ideal cutting angle, with the cutting edges trailing the radial axes, even as the reamer's diameter is adjusted. This result is accomplished by shifting the reamer segments sideways as they are expanded. |
