Key to Links for Patent Information

USPTO = U.S. Patent Office . Images of the actual patent can be viewed on the U.S. Patent Office web site but a special TIFF viewer must be installed with your browser in order properly work. More information on how to configure your computer to view these patents can be found at TIFF image Viewers for Patent Images.
DATAMP = Directory of American Tool And Machinery Patents . A sister site to VintageMachinery.org with information on patents related to machinery and tools. A much easier user interface than the USPTO's for finding information on machinery patents.

Patent Number Date Title Name City Description
1,680,466 Aug. 14, 1928 Reaming tool William H. Evans Chicago, IL Evans Flexible Reamer Corp. was acquired in 1943 by Lempco Products, Inc., and renamed to Evans Reamer & Machine Co. This reamer is made from a metal stamping.
1,680,510 Aug. 14, 1928 Valve-seat reamer William H. Evans Chicago, IL Evans Flexible Reamer Corp. was acquired in 1943 by Lempco Products, Inc., and renamed to Evans Reamer & Machine Co. This reamer is an anti-chatter design made from a metal stamping.
1,827,510 Oct. 13, 1931 Valve seat reamer William H. Evans Chicago, IL Evans Flexible Reamer Corp. was acquired in 1943 by Lempco Products, Inc., and renamed to Evans Reamer & Machine Co. This reamer is an anti-chatter design made from a metal stamping, and in addition it provides two types of cutting teeth, one to break through the hard carbon scale on the valve seat, and the second to ream the metallic valve seat itself. The metal-cutting teeth stand slightly forward of the carbon-cutting teeth but are more flexible and have more cutting surface so that when encounter the hard carbon layer, they flex rather than bite in, which exposes the second set of teeth.
1,827,511 Oct. 13, 1931 Reamer William H. Evans Chicago, IL Evans Flexible Reamer Corp. was acquired in 1943 by Lempco Products, Inc., and renamed to Evans Reamer & Machine Co. This patent provides improvements to the valve-seat reamer of patent 1,827,510 to better enable its use on smaller sizes of valves, and also to allow the use of standard reamer spindles and to provide a more chip-resistant cutting edge.
1,847,045 Feb. 23, 1932 Reamer sharpening machine William H. Evans Chicago, IL Evans Flexible Reamer Corp. was acquired in 1943 by Lempco Products, Inc., and renamed to Evans Reamer & Machine Co.

1,989,476 Jan. 29, 1935 Expansion reamer William H. Evans Chicago, IL Evans Flexible Reamer Corp. was acquired in 1943 by Lempco Products, Inc., and renamed to Evans Reamer & Machine Co. This expansion reamer provides cutting edges that maintain ideal cutting angle, with the cutting edges trailing the radial axes, even as the reamer's diameter is adjusted. This result is accomplished by shifting the reamer segments sideways as they are expanded.
