  CHICAGO, March 2—The business and physical assets of the Siewek Tool Division of Domestic Industries, Inc., here, have been acquired by Clair D. Reason of Detroit, it was announced yesterday. He formerly was eastern sales manager of the division. Officers of the company now are: Mr. Reason, president; Daniel R. Reason, vice president; M. E. Reason, secretary; C. D. Reason, treasurer; and P. Manding, assistant secretary. Offices have been established at 2862 East Grand Boulevard, Detroit.

• 1954 lawsuit, Siewek Tool Company v. Morton involved "Siewek Tool Company, a co-partnership, plaintiff, v. Margaret A. Morton and Archibald Morton, d/b/a Morton Machine works, defendants". The defendants had copied a 1948 document published by the plaintiff, "Complete Set of Full-Size Template Tracing Sheets—Siewek Clamps, Details And Fixture Locks", as noted on the cover page which also claims "Four Decades of Quality Tools". There was no copyright notice on that cover page. On the fifth page of the document is the copyright notice. Defendants claimed that the copyright notice failed to meet the statutory requirement that a copyright notice appear on the title page and therefore the document did not enjoy copyright protection. Plaintiffs argued that that fifth page was the de facto title page where the copyright notice is required to be. That page indeed carried the copyright notice but did not contain the document title. The plaintiffs argued about what, exactly, the document title was, but the plaintiff's own filings referred to "template sheets entitled 'This is a Complete Set of Full Size Template Tracing Sheets-Siewek-Clamps, Details, and Fixture Locks'", as it appeared on the cover page and not mentioned on that fifth page. The courts found in favor of the defendants.
