George H. Rowe |
Riverside, IL |
This invention was an electromechanical impact device. The initial application was a rock hammer-drill for use in mining, but subsequent improvements adapted it for use as a stamp mill (patent 938,708), riveting gun (patents 973,216, 938,709, and 1,298,966), and power hammer (patent 1,024,027). Further improvements for use as a hammer drill are to be found in patents 1,024,025 and 1,024,026. |

Electromechanical device

George H. Rowe |
Chicago, IL |
This invention relates to electromagnetic impact devices, and uses vacuum on one side of the hammer, and air pressure on the other, each reinforcing the magnetic attraction. This invention was claimed to be especially useful in energy savings with large heavy impact devices such as power hammers. The inventor was developing an electrical power hammer intended to replace a steam hammer. |
