Founded as a blacksmith shop in 1875 by George Friedrich Eduard Holmgren.
Having started with only a few hundred dollars in 1875, the Holmgreens could boast that Alamo Iron Works, Inc. now had assets totaling $75,000.00.
In 2010 the firm filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy and was subsequently bought by Charlotte, N.C.-based Industrial Distribution Group, a power-tool supplier owned by LKCM Capital Group of Fort Worth, TX.
