In the early 1940s, the company made the Autometric Universal Jig Boring, Layout, and Inspection Machine and Autometric Horizontal Universal Precision Boring Machine. The company was soon renamed Production Engineering Co. By 1953, Autometric machines were being made by Kearney & Trecker Co.
Origination of the Autometric has also been attributed to Meyer Mechanical Laboratory, 1811 Sacramento St., San Francisco, CA. Google Books has two 1940 references to this firm, but we have found nothing else.
