Crystal Lake Grinders was founded in 1910 by Charles A. Kirwin, who at the time specialized in designing grinders for small watch and typewriter reamers, counter bores and plug gages. Over the years, they have manufactured many types of precision grinders, including surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, tool grinders, etc. As of 2019, the company was still in business in Crystal Lake, IL.
