The company was a medium-sized manufacturer of hardware specialties and fittings for the carriage, wagon, and bicycle industries. As did a number of other Midwestern manufacturers, they made a mower knife and tool grinder It had the brand name Boss which Powell & Douglas also used for their sickle grinder.
