Taylor Machine Co. was an oil engine manufacturer. They had their business office in Chicago and plant in Ludington, MI. The name changed to Taylor Oil Engines, Inc. between 1921 and 1924. A Google Books snippet view from Engineers: Listing of the Engineers of Corporations with Their Official Duties and Connections, 1928, states "Prop.[proprietor], J. H. Taylor TAYLOR OIL ENGINES, INC. “Taylor oil engines” stationary and marine and automotive types, 30 to 500 BHP, 600 RPM series, 1000 RPM series, weight average 25 lbs per BHP) Plant, Ludington, Mich."
