Quickwork Co. made a variety of sheet metal machines, primarily for the automotive industry, but also for manufacturing aircraft, blowers, dust collectors, boilers, agricultural machinery, cornices, and skylights. The man behind Quickwork Co. was Henry Collier Smith. His predecessor companies were
Smith-Warren Co. of Boston, MA (1900-1910) and
H. Collier Smith Co. of Detroit, MI (1912-1917). Quickwork Co. operated from 1917 to 1940 in St. Marys, OH (1917-1936) and Chicago, IL. (1936-1940). From 1940 to 1960, Quickwork was a division of
Whiting Corp., Harvey, IL.
Smith's first patent was for a "Machine for preparing roofing-tin."
