In the 1960s, Master Craft Engineering Co. manufactured a home-shop handheld jigsaw (saber saw). By 1971 Master Craft sabre saws and other items were being manufactured by Fingerhut Manufacturing Co. of Minneapolis.

  • A packet containing an owners manual and envelope of blades for a portable saber saw, found at an estate sale in Michigan, has identified this manufacturer.

  • Uploaded to Photo Index: pics of a MASTERCRAFT model 105112 sabre saw from Fingerhut Corp., Minneapolis. Note "MASTERCRAFT" and not "MASTER CRAFT". This saw has a plastic housing A 1971 ad shows a "Master Craft" sabre saw from Fingerhut, with an aluminum housing.
  • 1972 trademark registration: "The one power saw that does the work of all saw, quickly, easily; Master Craft. Sheet. Appl. author: M. Fingerhut. © Fingerhut a.a.d.o. Fingerhut Mfg. Co.; 2Jun72; KK225173."
  • 1993 ads from Fingerhut Corporation, St. Cloud, MN, feature a 76-piece (or 81-piece) "Master Craft" socket set. In the fine print it says, "Tool Set Imported". E.g., July 1993 Popular Mechanics, January 1993 Boating And Fine Wood Working, Road & Track, The American Legion...
