By 1910 the firm of Slater, Marsden & Whittemore Co. was manufacturing punches, shears, and bending rolls, plus a small line of woodworking machinery that included combination rip and cutoff saws and a swing saw. The partners in this business were George B. Slater, George E. W. Marsden, and an as-yet unidentified Whittemore.

We have also seen a 1915 mention of the the name Slater & Marsden as the makers of a swing saw. We also have 1920 references to Slater & Marsden as makers of a feed mill, which is a type of grist mill. Perhaps Slater & Marsden was a predecessor to Slater, Marsden & Whittemore Co., and that partnership continued for the manufacture of feed mills.

Slater, Marsden & Whittemore Co. was succeeded by Hendley & Whittemore, which in turn was succeeded by Hendley-Beloit Corp. Further research is required to determine the dates of these reorganizations.

  New Catalog of Slater, Marsden & Whittemore Co.—The Slater, Marsden & Whittemore Co., Beloit, Wis., has issued its new catalog No. 7, devoted to illustrating and describing the company's punches, shears, bending rolls and wood-working machinery. The company's wood-working machinery will, of course, be of special interest to Wood-Worker readers, consisting of combination rip and cut-off saws, swing saws, etc.

Covers a complete line of punches, shears, bending rolls and woodworking machinery, among these being the punch and shear which was illustrated in The Iron Age, December 29, 1910. In describing the tools the general plan is to devote one page to each with an engraving at the top and a brief specification table at the bottom.

• July 1915 Western Engineering has a full-page ad for dealer Harron, Rickard & McCone of San Francisco and Los Angeles. Among the products carried were swing saws from "Slater-Marsden".
