By 1884 R. L. Orr & Co., Ltd. was manufacturing saw gummers. By 1893 the Ajax Manufacturing Co. ("formerly R. L. Orr & Co.") of Pittsburgh was manufacturing saw gummers plus mower knife grinders, and "The Ajax" automatic wood boring machines as well as a tube expander.
