The Smith & Egge Manufacturing Co. was established about 1872 by William Smith and Frederick Egge to make sewing machines, which are outside the scope of this Vintage Machinery website. They also made a very broad range of hardware, such as chain, sash pulley components, and conductors' punches. They are listed here because in 1893 they were making the "New Giant" keyless drill chuck. In about 1899-1900 they briefly manufactured the Dosch universal miter trimmer before inventor Peter Dosch started his own manufacturing business, the Lion Machine Co.
