In 1898-99 the Economy Machinery Co. was making a benchtop drill press that had been developed and patented by the proprietor, John H. Flynn. The company's primary business was as a used machinery dealer. The drill press seems to have been discontinued by 1900 and the company continued as a used machinery dealer until at least the late 1920s. Son John H. Flynn, Jr., joined the business shortly after the drill press era. Patent records show that in later years he was also working for the Eureka Tackle Block Co. of Cincinnati.
