1937

In 1882 James H. Williams and Matthew Diamond established a foundry, Williams & Diamond, in Queens, NY. In 1884 the business relocated to Brooklyn. In 1887 the name changed to J. H. Williams & Co.

J. H. Williams & Co. specialized in drop-forged hand tools, which are outside the scope of this site. They also made items of peripheral interest to us, though, namely tool holders, lathe dogs, other such machine-tool accessories, and pipe vises.

In 1983 the business was acquired by Snap-On, Inc., which renamed it to the J. H. Williams Tool Group, and, in 2011, to Snap-on Industrial Brands.
