This company was active in the early 1870s. Our best guess based on very limited information is that in about 1873, Dunklee & Allen (believed to have been founded by Benjamin F. Dunklee and Daniel C. Allen) split into Dunklee & Tilton and D. C. Allen & Co. Apparently D. C. Allen & Co. was taken over by Frank M. Stevens, perhaps in 1876 or early 1877, then was quickly acquired by John A. White.
