Founded in 1885 to manufacture printing presses, this firm found a need for a large quantity of spur, worm and spiral gears. The firm went on to manufacture an Automatic Gear Hobbing machine of their own design.

In 1969 the firm was acquired by Rockwell International Corp. printing press division and was subsequently sold in 1996 to a new company named Goss Graphic Systems Inc.

Back in the summer of 1939, our company having been through the last war making Navy guns, had a pretty good idea of what the situation would be, so we went to Washington to request an opportunity to bid on some contracts. Subsequently we were awarded a contract for 24 gun mounts and 13 months later shipped the first mount. After that we bid on 239 mounts, a $12,000,000 contract. This second contract was completed four months ahead of the specified time. We have also completed a contract for 700 sights, and nearly completed one for more than 1700 hoists. At this moment we are converting half our productive space to rocket production, expecting to be turning out rockets in volume... We have also done quite a volume of machine tool work on government contracts and have made more then 300 Plan-O-Mills and are still engaged in that. We are also making Lehman [sic; should be Lehmann] lathes and tire-making machines for Goodyear.
