Feed-motion of shingle machines
|
Elbridge Drake |
Gardiner, ME |
Seen on old-paper.com: a 3-page announcement that John Gorman has the sole right to manufacture and sell E. Drake's patent shingle machine in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New York. The announcement is dated 1867, and includes a drawing of a new and larger unit. A genealogical website shows an Elbridge Drake born on 1820-07-03, to parents Warren Drake and Melinda Lothrop, of ME (possibly Albion). "The Water-power of Maine. Reports of the commissioners and secretary of the Hydrographic survey of 1867" mentions that E. Drake used a dam and water-wheel in Gardiner, doing $10,000 worth of "wood work" business. |
