Boring-chuck

This is the "Gronkvist chuck", which was manufactured by the Grönkvist Drill Chuck Co. of Jersey City, NJ. The Gronkvist chuck allowed bit changes without stopping the drill. In 2020 we saw an offshore-manufactured stud extractor that used the same design principle: a trio of steel dowel pins held in slots in a cylindrical sleeve, all fitting within an outer casing, with ramps on the inside of the outer casing to force the pins against the workpiece as the workpiece rotates relative to the outer sleeve. |
