This company, established in 1903, is known for their floor sanders. They also made a combination machine known as the Electric Carpenter. They were in business under the American Floor Surfacing Machine Co. banner until at least 1957; after a series of corporate mergers and acquisitions, they are now part of the Clarke American Sanders group, which is, in turn, part of Nilfisk-Advance, Inc.

American Floor Surfacing Machine Co. also made handheld power tools (sanders, circular saws, and chainsaws) and machines for surfacing concrete and terrazzo floors. Some of these products are outside of the scope of this website and we do not provide any information on them other than patents. Their floor sanders had motors by Peerless Electric Co.

American Floor Surfacing handheld circular saws and belt sanders were sold by Sears, Roebuck & Co. under the Craftsman label with model-number prefix 207. If you are looking for a manual for an American Floor Surfacing circular saw you should search our Craftsman publications for "207."
