189,621,623 Nov. 14, 1896 Improvements in Sight Feed Lubricators James Lionel Grandison , England Note: Early English patents (pre 1916) were numbered by the year and started at patent #1 at the start of each year in January. The patent # used in DATAMP represents the year of issue of the application and the patent #. This patent is #21,623 of the year 1896.
189,809,387 Jun. 11, 1898 Improvements in Sight Feed Lubricators James Lionel Grandison , England Note: Early English patents (pre 1916) were numbered by the year and started at patent #1 at the start of each year in January. The patent # used in DATAMP represents the year of issue of the application and the patent #. This patent is #9,387 of the year 1898.

Abstract:

Relates to sight-feed lubricators of condensation or differential-piston type for supplying oil to the supply pipes and valve-chests of steam engines &c. Instead of the usual conical regulating-valve, a valve c with a hemispherical head c<1> is employed. In the cylindrical chamber d, forming an enlargement of the feed-pipe e, is placed the taper plug f, which is of such a length that it closes the pipe e when the valve head c<1> is on its seat d'.

The patent # used in DATAMP represents the year of issue of the application and the patent #. This patent is #30,636 of the year 1897.

Abstract:

The condenser e is mounted on the reservoir a, and the sight-tube b and a gauge glass are on opposite sides of the reservoir. A pipe leads from the top of the reservoir to the bottom of the sight-tube. A passage h in the top of the reservoir connects the sight-tube with the oil-delivery pipe k. This pipe k projects through and beyond the end of the pipe m, which screws into the steam pipe and admits steam to the condenser.
190,015,989 Oct. 13, 1900 Improvements in Sight Feed Lubricators James Lionel Grandison , England Note: Early English patents (pre 1916) were numbered by the year and started at patent #1 at the start of each year in January. The patent # used in DATAMP represents the year of issue of the application and the patent #. This patent is #15,989 of the year 1900.

Abstract:

Lubricators, sightfeed, specially suitable for cylinders of air-compressors but applicable also to steam engines. Oil passes through the passage p, controlled by the valve g, to the nozzle m in the sight-tube l. In order that the pressure above the oil may be equal to that below it, a second passage p<1>, controlled by the valve h, is provided. A tube q extends from the passage p<1> to the top of the oil vessel a.

190,327,441 Oct. 20, 1904 Improvements in Mechanically Operated Lubricators for Motive Power Engines. Walter Adams , England Note: Early English patents (pre 1916) were numbered by the year and started at patent #1 at the start of each year in January. The patent # used in DATAMP represents the year of issue of the application and the patent #. This patent is #27,441 of the year 1903.

Abstract:

An improvement in the lubricator for motive-power engines, described in Specification No. 5749, A.D. 1902, consists i n the employment of ratchet gearing for reducing or varying the speed of the lubricator shaft to suit engines of various speeds. The worm-wheel c, driven continuously by the worm d, is mounted loosely on the shaft a, from which the pumps in the lubricator tank b are actuated. The worm - wheel carries the pawl i, engaging the ratchet-wheel h on the shaft a. The teeth of the ratchet-wheel are covered through part of a revolution by two discs o, p, each having a portion of its periphery q, Fig. 4, cut away. The disc p is fixed to the bracket s, and the disc o is adjusted and clamped by the stud u, engaging the slot t, to expose the desired number of teeth of the ratchet-wheel. The pawl i is lifted out of engagement with the teeth except at the part q. The spring k engaging the pawl i is adjusted by the set-screw m. The hand-wheel w enables the lubricator to be flushed while working.
