Boring Mill Models
A longtime employee of H. W. Kearns provided us with the following model summary.
- S type—12" cube capability,12" table and built in facing head
- 0 type (latterly 450)—3" spindle (less in some variants), no facing head, 30" or 36" sq revolving table
- 45 Series—the new design, with 45" bed width.
- D1—3" spindle, built in facing head. 36" revolving table, 5 HP. This model was later known as the 451P.
- D2—patent built in facing head, 3" spindle, 42" revolving table, 7.5 HP
- D3—patent built in facing head, 3.5" spindle, 42" revolving table, 7.5 HP
- D4—patent built in facing head, 4" spindle, 42" revolving table, 10 HP
- D5—patent built in facing head, 5" or 6" spindle.
All have variant traverses and bed width. Patent designation is built in facing head with travelling spindle. Designation Standard is for facing head only (no spindle and used in large valve or pump manufacture).
