Circular saw machine for multiple grooving
|
Carl E. Johnson |
Lincoln Park, MI |
"This invention relates broadly to new and useful improvements in circular table saws, and more particularly to a saw of this type which is primarily adapted and pre-eminently suited for cutting a plurality of uniformly spaced, essentially square and relatively wide notches along the edge of a board or the like to form a convention slip or lock joint." The patent illustrations make clear that he was referring to what most people call a box joint. The inventor advertised "Johnson Dovetailing Equipment" in beekeeping publications, e.g., the October 1963 "Ohio State Beekeepers Association News Digest" and 1970 issues of "Gleanings in Bee Culture". In its entirety the text ads all read "JOHNSON DOVETAILING EQUIPMENT for the beekeeper's shop. Write for details. Carl E. Johnson Co. 1557 Gregory Avenue, Lincoln Park, Mich. 48148". He apparently sold his invention as a saw-top accessory rather than as a complete tablesaw. |
